FALSE MEMORIES

- Damon Salvatore lost his mother young, and perhaps that's why his father and him never saw eye to eye. Giuseppe Salvatore was never a nice man. When he and his brother Stefan were older, they learned their father was involved in small-time criminal activity. Despite not being close to his father, he did stay close with his brother, Stefan, despite Stefan being ten years younger than him. Growing up in Wayward Pines meant he ran in the same crowds throughout his school years. From the moment he met Katherine Pierce Gilbert, he was smitten. But, she was entitled, and liked to play hard to get and their relationship stopped and started like a game of Red Light, Green Light. Despite the tumultuous nature of their connection, the two married. Passionate and all consuming, Damon and Katherine burn everyone down in their path, including one another. They rarely stay faithful, but deep down their connection remains.
- Elena Gilbert, Katherine's little sister, married his brother Stefan. They're happily married and Damon's happy for them. Katherine issues aside, the four of them are thick as thieves. This is why with Katherine's coaxing, he convinces Stefan to start a side business. They're intimately familiar with their father's dealings and they take from where he left off, all to help Elena through med school.
- Caroline Forbes has always been the girl down the street. She's sweet enough and friends with Elena. But, she's younger and not immediately connected to family.

- In high school Damon felt a one-sided rivalry with Randel Oland. In truth, Katherine used him, letting Damon think something was happening between them. Randel was the better athlete, but not the more popular student. His home life coupled with a rebellious, lazy side contributes to his delinquency. He drinks under age, skips class, and takes part in the senior prank. It's not that he isn't smart, it's that he doesn't apply himself. When grades matter, though, he sticks the landing. He's run afoul of one of the administrators, Leah Organa, now school principal.
- Shortly after high school, Damon struck up a friendship with Marie D'Ancanto. The friendship remained chaste until Damon crossed the line. Over time, he developed real feelings for Marie. He never manipulated her, or pushed her to be anything other than who she was. She moved away from school, but upon returning, those old feelings stirred again.
- Damon has two best friends, Sam Seaborn, whom he pushes to be more social and to get out of his comfort zone, and Emma Swan, who tolerates him on a good day. Emma takes his shit but also calls him out on his shit when it's necessary.
- Damon attends therapy with Jiaying ranging from once a week to once a month depending on when the need arises.
- Katherine and Elena have an older brother, Nyx (Ulric), who hates him. Sure, he's dicked his sister around, but Katherine's not much better. Sometimes? She's much worse.
- Damon and Stefan own S & D Automotive. They perform routine maintenance, oil changes and car restorations for the right price. They fixed Steve Rogers. Bucky Barnes is Stefan's apprentice.
- A frequenter of Lagomarcino's and French's, Damon strikes up a friendship with Percy Jackson, one of the kids behind the counter. He and Stefan take a special interest in him, helping him with money and groceries, having him over for family dinners. Damon sticks to the more controversial and colorful advice when asked. He has quite the fondness for the kid.
- A night of drinking with Eliot turned into a one night stand that was fine enough when Katherine threw one of her fits and called things off.
- Damon takes an interest in Scott Summers, helping him with the ins and outs of motorcycles and cars, establishing a mentor/mentee relationship.

ACTUALITIES
- Damon maintains his place at S & D Automotive but has taken to bartending a few off nights at Weavers
- Damon is in love with Elena Gilbert and has a tentative truce going with Katherine, though they play their respective parts with their respective partners.
- Damon has compelled Jiaying to keep his and his family's secrets, but as an outlet as well as an opportunity to spy on others, should they go to her for counseling as well.
- Damon has found an ally in Malia Tate, an orphaned werecoyote he struck up a friendship with.
